TIAS and PINCC launch regional chapter for Latin America

Oct 18, 2016: We are pleased to announce that the Research Programme for Climate Change (PINCC) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and TIAS are launching a regional chapter of TIAS for Latin America (TIAS-LA) today. As part of PINCC’s annual (inter)national congress on climate change. The establishment of TIAS-LA has been led by TIAS advisory board members, Matt Hare (Mexico/UK) and Marcela Brugnach (NL/Argentina). The official opening will take place In a conference session dedicated to IA and decision-making for adaptation that they have organized together with Ana Elisa Peña del Valle of PINCC.
The new office in Mexico City will offer activities that promote IA as a tool for supporting successful decision making in Latin America and on developing a Latin American perspective on IA. The office will support capacity development and training for students and professionals in Spanish, as well as supporting the implementation of applied research projects. Materials in Spanish will be developed on a gradual basis.  Anyone who is a member of TIAS can join TIAS-LA regardless of where they are located. The launch will be reported in the December issue of the TIAS newsletter. A part of the TIAS website will be devoted to TIAS-LA.
